James G. Redmann, MD, FACS,  1986 graduate of Jesuit High School, has joined The Surgical Specialists of LA. Dr. Redmann received his B. A. in Latin from the University of Texas and graduated from L.S.U. Medical School in 1994 where he was Class President, Medical Student Body President, President of the Council of Student Body Presidents, and received the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Student. He performed his surgical residency at L.S.U. covering New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette. He was General Surgery Resident of the Year and Aesculapian Resident of the Year. Upon completion in 1998, he opened his private practice as a general surgeon in Eunice, LA. While in Eunice, Dr. Redmann served as Treasurer, Vice President and most recently as President of the St. Landry Parish Medical Society (2004-2005). He was Chief of Surgery as well as Vice-Chief and Chief of Staff at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice. Among his many contributions to the community is the TV show he founded and hosted, “Here’s To Your Health”, which has aired five times a week for the past five years. In addition to his numerous presentations, Dr. Redmann is well-known for his publications on breast cancer cell research. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, Southern Medical Association, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, American Hernia Society, and Rotary International. The Surgical Specialists of LA is the most experienced minimally invasive weight loss surgery practice in the Gulf South, having performed over 2,500 bariatric procedures. Dr. Redmann joins the practices of five surgeons with offices located in New Orleans, Covington, and Baton Rouge.
